UPDATES:

January 2012:

Happy New Year!  We wish everyone the best in 2012.  We are diligently working on those tax receipts for all of our generous donors in 2011 and they will all be delivered by the end of the month.

Transition:

Operation Pinecone is undergoing a transition right now.  Updates will be posted shortly regarding the status of our changes to come.

Holiday Packing Parties:

Thank you to all those who attended the holiday pack and wrap parties.  The success of the parties was tremendous and the thank you notes, cards and e-mails have been steadily coming in.  Please check our Facebook page for the most recent updates.

2011 - 5th Annual Tournament for the Troops & Fundraiser:

Another wonderful event!  The Wounded Warriors in Transition from area military hospitals, who were our guests of honor, seemed to have a great time and won many of the fantastic door prizes.  One of them won the Grand Raffle prize!

Special thanks to our Platinum Sponsors for this event:

Ongoing Programs:

Notes of Support - Please continue to send notes, cards, posters, drawings of support through our organization and we will gladly forward them along with our shipments and deliveries.  We have had some wonderful photos, notes, posters and drawings from individuals, Church Organizations, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Daisies, Brownies and Senior Girl Scouts that were and continue to be thoroughly enjoyed by the troops in Iraq (see photos) and Afghanistan and other deployment areas as well as at the military hospitals we support.

Sewing For The Wounded - Some of us also are participants of the Sew Much Comfort program.  We have received  very nice thank you letters from the Chaplain of the Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad  and from the Marine Liaison office at Bethesda National Naval Hospital for our shipments and deliveries  of adaptive T-shirts, shorts and boxers for the wounded. If you have sewing capabilities, there is a need for people to help alter clothing to create “adaptive clothing” for service members who have lost limbs, had surgeries that require appliances to be worn temporarily, or have special needs due to their injuries or surgeries.  We can arrange to coordinate with you if you are interested in helping.  You may go to the following link to find out more about sewing needs: http://www.sewmuchcomfort.org/   If you have questions about this program or are interested in getting involved in any way, please e-mail or call Sew Much Comfort or us.

Purchase Global (international) phone cards to be mailed to our troops: https://shop.aafes.com/shop/

Drop them off at our collection sites or mail to us and we will include them in our care packages.  Don't forget to include your name and address and we will mail you a tax exempt receipt for your donation.
